MIDI GeniePrivacy policy

MIDI Genie runs on your computer and talks to the AI provider you choose. We do not run a server that sees your prompts, your MIDI or your audio, and we do not track how you use the plugin.
Who we are
In this policy, “MIDI Genie”, “we” and “us” mean MIDI Genie, the maker of the plugin. For anything about your data, email olu@midigenie.com.
What stays on your computer
- Your API keys, stored in the macOS Keychain. The plugin sends a key only to the provider it was saved for, and never shows it again after you save it.
- Your settings, takes, conversations and attached files, kept in
~/Library/Application Support/MIDI Genie. - A log file used for troubleshooting. It records what the plugin did, such as which take files were saved and which provider was contacted, but never your API keys or what you typed.
We cannot see any of this. Deleting the folder above removes it.
What is sent to your AI provider
When you generate, MIDI Genie sends your message, the relevant musical context (for example the notes of a take you are refining, or details of a file you attached) and your key, directly from your computer to the provider you picked: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, OpenRouter, or a server you configured yourself. This happens under your own account with that provider, and their privacy policy and terms apply to it. We are not part of that exchange and do not receive a copy.
What we receive

MIDI Genie contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code, and it does not collect crash reports automatically.
Our website, midigenie.com, uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives your IP address and basic browser information; see how Google uses this data. The plugin itself sends nothing to Google Analytics.

How long we keep it
We keep purchase and licence records for as long as your licence exists and as long as tax law requires. Support emails are kept for 2 years and then deleted.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR and UK GDPR, you can ask to see, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you, and you can complain to your local data protection authority. Email olu@midigenie.com and we will reply within 30 days.
Children
MIDI Genie is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above. If a change affects what leaves your computer, we will say so in the release notes of the update that makes it.
