Troubleshooting

Most problems have a quick fix. If yours isn't here, write to us and we'll help.

The installer won't open

Press Done, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and press Open Anyway. You only need to do this once.

My DAW can't find MIDI Genie

• Restart the DAW, or rescan plugins.
• Look in your instruments, not your effects.

It says "Connect to confirm your license"

MIDI Genie works offline for up to 14 days at a time, then needs to check in. Connect to the internet and press Try again.

My key isn't accepted

• Paste the whole key, starting with MIDIGENIE-.
• A key works on two computers. To free one up, press Deactivate this computer in Settings → About on the computer you no longer use.

Nothing happens when I send, or it says "Not reachable"

1. Open Settings and press Test connection.
2. If it says your key works but the model isn't available, pick another model.
3. Check that your provider account has credit.
4. If you've just saved a key, choose Always Allow when your computer asks about the keychain.

I can't type in the box

Some DAWs keep key presses for their own shortcuts. Click inside the message box first, then type.

Dragging into my DAW doesn't work

Press Save as… and import the file, or drag it from the Takes folder. See Get the MIDI into your DAW.

It's taking a long time

Bigger requests take longer, and AI providers are sometimes slow. If a step runs long, MIDI Genie tells you, and you can press Stop at any time. Try Fast in Options, or a smaller model.

Still stuck?

If MIDI Genie shows an error, press Copy diagnostics on the error bar and paste it into an email to olu@midigenie.com. It never includes your keys.
