Install and activate
MIDI Genie comes as one installer that adds the plugin and a standalone app. Your license key unlocks it on up to two of your computers.
What you need
- A computer running macOS 10.15 or later, Apple silicon or Intel. Windows is coming soon.
- A DAW that loads AU or VST3 instruments. MIDI Genie is tested in FL Studio. Ableton Live, Logic Pro and Cubase support is coming soon.
- An AI key from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or OpenRouter. Connect your AI shows how to get one.
Install
- Download the installer from the link in your receipt email, or from your customer portal.
- Open it. If your computer says the installer "Not Opened", press Done, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and press Open Anyway. You only do this once.
- Follow the steps. The installer adds:
- the MIDI Genie app, in Applications
- the AU and VST3 plugins, in your system plugin folders
- the built-in sounds, shared by the app and the plugins
- Restart your DAW, or rescan plugins, so it finds MIDI Genie.
MIDI Genie is an instrument. Load it into an instrument slot, not an effect slot.
Activate your license
- Open MIDI Genie in your DAW, or open the app on its own.
- On the Activate MIDI Genie screen, paste the key from your receipt. It starts with
MIDIGENIE-. - Press Activate.
Can't find your key? Press Where's my key? on the same screen, or open your customer portal.
Two computers, and moving to a new one
One key works on up to two of your computers. To move it, open Settings → About on the old computer and press Deactivate this computer. Then activate on the new one.
Working offline
MIDI Genie checks your license quietly in the background and works offline for up to 14 days at a time. After that it shows Connect to confirm your license. Connect to the internet and press Try again.
You still need a connection to generate music, because your AI provider runs online.
Updates
Your purchase includes a year of updates. When a new version is out, MIDI Genie shows a banner inside the plugin. Press What's new to see the changes, or Download to get it. Run the new installer over the old one. Your keys, settings, sessions and takes stay as they are.
After your year ends, the versions you got keep working for good. You can renew to keep getting new ones.
