AI costs and privacy

MIDI Genie is a one-time purchase. The AI that writes the music is billed by your provider, based on how much you use it.

What you pay your provider

Each request costs a small amount, depending on the model you pick and how much music you ask for. Most requests cost a few cents or less. Smaller models are cheaper. Larger ones usually write more musical parts.

These cost nothing extra, because MIDI Genie handles them without your AI provider:

• changing a sound, the tempo or the key
• renaming, muting or deleting parts
• anything you do in the piano roll

See what a session has cost

The top bar shows an estimate for the current session, such as ~$0.04. Hover over it to see the details. It's worked out from providers' list prices, so your provider's bill is the final word.

Keep costs down

• Use Fast in Options for quick sketches.
• Set Check and revise to fewer passes, since each pass is another request.
• Aim changes at one track with @, so only that part is rewritten.
• Set a monthly spending limit in your provider's dashboard.

Your key and your music

• Your AI key is kept in your computer's secure keychain, and only ever sent to your provider.
• MIDI Genie has no server of its own. Your prompts and files go straight to the provider you chose, under that provider's terms.
• Your takes are saved on your computer.
