Write a good prompt

Talk to MIDI Genie like a producer in the room. Say the style, the feel and the parts you want, and it writes MIDI to match.

What to include

Style or genre: cinematic, orchestral, solo piano, ambient, neo-soul, gospel.
Mood: epic, tender, sad, hopeful, tense.
The parts you want: piano, strings, brass, woodwinds, choir, timpani, pads.
How the parts move: driving strings, flowing piano arpeggios, sustained low brass, big dynamic swells.
Tempo, key or length, if you already know them: 70 BPM, in D minor, 16 bars.

You get what you ask for

MIDI Genie writes only the parts you mention. Ask for just a chord progression and you get chords, with nothing else added. Ask for strings and you get separate violin, viola, cello and bass tracks, so each one lands on its own track in your DAW.

Options

Press Options under the message box, or the key or bars in the top bar. Your choices apply to the next message you send.

Option	What it does
Key	Fix the key, or leave it on Auto to follow your prompt.
Tempo	Set the BPM. Greyed out while Follow host tempo is on.
Bars	How long the result should be.
Metre	Auto, 4/4, 3/4, 6/8, 5/4 or 7/8.
Quality / Fast	Quality plans the music first, then writes it. Fast writes it in one go.
Follow host tempo	Match your DAW's tempo. On by default inside a DAW.
Snap every note to the key	Move any out-of-key note to the nearest note in the scale.
Check and revise	MIDI Genie checks the result against your style and fixes it, up to the number of times you choose. Each pass is another request to your AI provider.

Tips

Start simple, then build. Get drums and chords right, then ask to add a melody.
Describe sounds by feel. "Glassy bells" or "warm Rhodes" works better than naming a plugin preset.
Ask questions. What key is this in? and what chords are these? get answered straight away, and don't write new music.
